Bed & Breakfast
The 17th Century house has been extensively renovated in recent years to make a comfortable family home of great charm. It retains most of its original period details within and delightful gardens without. It is a calm and peaceful oasis to relax and unwind in.
An entrancing and secluded garden awaits visitors. Terraced lawns stepping up the gentle slope to where a gate in the Italian railings lead to a wildflower meadow and woodland with ancient oak trees beyond. The garden has herbaceous and shrub beds, a Georgian ha-ha with a Victorian bridge crossing it, hidden woodland gardens and rose gardens and a walled vegetable and herb garden. It is open for private visits by appointment.
The two guest rooms are separated from the main house and enjoy lovely views over the gardens. Both rooms have large double beds. The accommodation includes a private sitting room with tv and there is a choice of bathroom or shower. The rooms have Satellite TVs with DVD players and the house has wireless internet access. Guests are welcome to borrow books from the Library. Just ask if you need anything.
Families with children are very welcome. Additional beds or cots can be provided, as well as high chairs, changing mats, toys and games. The garden has a large climbing frame with swings and a trampoline. There is a secure parking area to the rear of the property and the drive is locked at night.
We try to be as eco-friendly as we can and have invested in two sets of solar panels and grey water re-cycling, so are happy to share our experiences. We also grow much of our own food in the wonderful walled vegetable garden. Katie trained in cookery and specialises in simple, home-cooked food. We use organic home grown or locally sourced food as much as possible to create delicious meals.
